Always wash and clean your produce.  Make sure you discard the apple seeds as they are not good for you.To save time you can store each recipe of produce in large plastic bags to have them ready for you. I do this when I come home from the grocery store. I wash and separate all the fruit and veggies and place the proper amount into plastic bags so everything is divided up and ready to go. Then each bag is ready to juice. Just make sure you only do them a couple of days ahead, especially the fruit.

Now you are ready to start juicing. I recommend a cleanse for 3 days the first time and see how it goes. The most I have ever tried is a 7 day cleanse. I found it very beneficial and believe it or not I wasn’t even hungry . Plus for an added bonus I lost 10 pounds.

I have read about some people going on a cleanse until they have lost all the weight they wanted to lose. If that interests you, make sure you check with your health care provider that you are healthy enough for that. And remember, just be careful not to go back to bad eating habits or it will all be in vain.

If you are into juicing or have a desire to start juicing, make sure you get a good juicer. If you have a cheap juicer they are difficult to clean and don’t always juice the fruit and vegetables properly. You can have a lot of waste if you don’t have a strong efficient juicing machine. I bought a cheap juicer when I first decided to start juicing . What a mistake that was.

Invest in a good juicer

It’s important to have a efficiently working juicer, otherwise there will be a lot of hand cutting and chopping and it will make juicing a real chore and there will be a lot of wasted food that did not get juiced.

Juicing should  be done in a juicer, not be in a blender as you would be making a smoothie which means the pulp stays in the juice. It’s recommended not to drink the pulp because you are trying to give your digestive system a chance to rest according to what is called a real juice.

I enjoy juicing. It’s an easy way to get all the fruits and vegetables you need.

Also if any family members do not  enjoy veggies, serving them  a  juice is so much easier and tastes a lot better. And you know they are getting their vitamins and proper nutrition.

You would have to eat 2 to 3 vegetables every meal,at least 2 meals a day, to get the same amount of nutrition from 1 to 2 glasses of a combined fruit and vegetable juice for the whole day.

Make sure to add some non-caloric liquids to your diet each day:

Coffee, black, no sugar

Green tea, black, no sugar

Water:  at least 8 (8oz) glasses every day before and after your juice.

Weight loss by intermittent fasting is a fairly easy way to lose weight without feeling deprived. It does take will-power in the beginning, which we are lacking or we wouldn’t be here. You can eat foods you like, within reason, in a set time frame and lose weight quite fast. Weight loss by intermittent fasting, how easy. No weighting food, no measuring, no counting points, less grocery shopping , less cooking, in other words EASY. You do have to make a decision that you want to lose the weight and regain your health.

Once you get the right mindset and get thru a couple of days it gets so much easier.  because you need to.You stop thinking about food all the time and soon you will eat because you need to and not just to fill your face.

That is the most important issue. When you do intermittent fasting you put you body in a fasting state where it is much easier to lose weight due to your insulin levels being much lower.

When you are eating your insulin levels are much higher.  Another plus is fasting is a simple and easy way to lose all the extra fat. Just think you don’t have to plan 3 meals a day so you save on time and also on groceries. Which is an added bonus.

How to do intermittent fasting.

Believe it or not you are already doing intermittent fasting. When you go to bed every evening and sleeping until morning you are doing intermittent fasting. Unless you get up in the middle of the night to have a snack. That’s why breakfast is called that “break-fast”.

But to help with your weight loss and better health you need to look for a larger window or time frame to make fasting work.

If you are like most people we have been conditioned to eat breakfast to get the metabolism moving. This will make it hard to do fasting. I’m very rarely hungry  the first thing in the morning so fasting is not too hard for me.

In the beginning try to keep adding a few hours every day to your overnight fast. So if you slept for 8 hours and didn’t eat for 2 more hours before bedtime you did a 10 hour fast. Give up breakfast and just have coffee or water during the morning. Have your first meal after 12 noon.

Eventually you could build up to 6 more hours. That would be an ideal fast. Then have a normal dinner and maybe a snack before bed and start all over again the next morning. Try to eat sensibly, lean meat, poultry, or fish and fresh or frozen veggies.

Don’t stuff yourself with pizza, wings or all that no-no foods. And just because you haven’t eaten all day, just eat until you are full.

Don’t overeat. It’s o.k. to have a couple of cookies once in a while, but I found if I stay away from sugar products and carb after a couple of days I don’t crave them. Eventually you will be very satisfied with less food and much healthy food.

Another way to fast is to fast until 1:00 or 2:00 everyday. Then eat a light lunch and around 6:00 eat a light dinner. You won’t lose quite as fast but it will still work.

Another way to do intermittent fasting is to fast a couple of days a week for 24 hours at a time. That is not that easy. I find that a little harder to do, especially if you have a family to feed. My husband says that’s not healthy but I feel your body can benefit from a rest and you will get good results from this method also. Fasting is a very easy way to lose weight. Many people find it simple and very easy to do, without having to do any cooking for yourself or your family.. You can expect to loss 3-5 pounds the fist week with significant losses each and every week after that. If you are very overweight you could lose between9- 13 pounds in your first week depending on how strict you are and also how active you are able to be.

Juice fasting is nothing more than drinking  juice in place of eating food for a set amount of time . It could be for 1 day or up to thirty day. I have heard of many people doing it longer than that but I would definitely check with my health care provider before doing any fast.

Fasting and juice fasting is a good way to cleanse your system and rid it of all the toxins that have been accumulating from all the bad eating habits, like processed foods, red meat, soda, sugary foods and alcohol.

How to Begin.

First you want to do this right. Start with cutting out all the types of foods I mentioned in the last paragraph for a week, then start your juicing fast after that. In order to juice right for weight loss, you must use fruits and vegetables in the right proportions. 80% vegetables and 20% fruit. The fruit has too much sugar and will slow down your weight loss and produces more insulin, which is not good.

You need to purchase a juicer in order to do this right. A blender will not work because it leaves the pulp in the juice and that makes your digestive system work much harder than it should. Look here for a very good juicer.

You can have up to 6 8oz. glasses of juice a day. I usually had 4. That satisfied me. Plus you need to drink at least 8 8oz. glasses of water a day also.

6 spinach or romaine leaves

1 cucumber

2 stocks celery

1 cup blueberries

1 orange

1/2 a lemon

You do not need to peel the cucumber or measure perfectly. Just keep in mind the 80-20 rule. I always peel the oranges, but some people don’t. Make sure you core all the apples when you use them,  the apple seeds are not good for you.

Old Faithful

6 spinach leaves

1 cucumber

1 granny smith apple

handful of grapes

2 carrots

The carrots add some sweetness with added sugar.

Always try to come up with a variety of fruits and vegetables to keep it interesting.

And your juice should be drank on the day it was made and kept in a air-tight container in the refrigerator.

How do you distinguish how much sugar is in your diet and how much you should consume. Well here is the lowdown on sugar.

The facts are that the average overweight American consumes  about 47 teaspoons of sugar-485050_640sugar a day. Over 100 years ago people consumed less than 15 grams of sugar a day, plus their jobs were more physical than most jobs today. So where does that leave us?

Too much belly fat and generally way overweight.

Consuming refined sugar, refined carbs, and so many processed foods is affecting the hormone insulin in your body. The pancreas produces insulin to manage your fat and blood sugar. If not controlled it can lead to high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes.

The lifestyle today is to grab prepared food on the go. It’s quick and it’s easy, only many of us don’t realize how many carbs and sugars are hidden in these fast food products.

We need to get back to a better way to eat. Back to fresh vegetables , lean meats, poultry and fish. There is very little sugar in these foods.

Start reading labels before you purchase a product or better yet don’t buy processed items. I did not realize how much sugar was in milk and milk products.  There are 13 grams of sugar in a cup of milk. Any cookie, donut or sweet treat is loaded with sugar. You are better off to refrain from all those processed food and to eat lower on the food chain.

Sugar is used in many products. Cookies, cakes, ice cream, jellies, jams, sodas. pickles are just a few, so cutting out sugar is hard. But so much better for our bodies and our health.

Sometimes reading labels can be hard, because sugar can be disguised under different names such as fructose, maltose, dextrose and lactose. But they are still a form of sugar with the same effects as pure sugar.

Another side effect of eating too much sugar. Sugar drives up production of insulin while not producing leptin which control your appetite. So you over eat and all that excess food gets stored as fat. So when your body produces leptin it had a decrease  in abdominal fat.

Which is what we all want.

Sugar can kill you too

Belly fat is the outward signs of a high processed, sugar laden diet. But the damage can be so much more. It’s been linked to three very bad diseases that can kill you.

Cardiovascular Disease. Feeding your body a diet of refined carbs and too much sugar will cause inflammation and eventually high blood pressure and high cholesterol. This can lead to heart disease and possibly a heart attack or stroke.

Cancer.  Research has linked sugar intake to one of the worst forms of cancer, pancreatic cancer. also researchers have found a link between excess sugar and colon cancer. Cancer cells love sugar.

Type 2 Diabetes.  Over production of insulin can lead to type 2 diabetes. When you consume to much sugar laden foods your body produces more insulin, which can lead to insulin resistance and the next step is diabetes.

So take care of you body and treat it well and you will reap the results.

Always ask yourself are you really hungry or are you bored, stressed out or eating to avoid doing a chore or task. I have always been a grazer. I would rather stand and pick rather than sit down and eat a balanced meal. Now that I have cured myself of that habit I realize that I’m eating far less in the course of a day. It’s amazing.

Make water your main source of liquid. Try to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses a day. Another rule of thumb is take your weight, divide it by 2 and drink that many ounces of water a day.

So if you weight 150 pounds divide that by 2 which equals 75 ounces. Divide that by 8 and that’s how many 8 ounces glasses of water you should be drinking a day. Don’t substitute with juice or sodas. They are loaded with calories. Even diet drinks are not good. Supposedly the ingredients are suppose to make you hungry and crave food.

Stay away from all white foods, except cauliflower, white foods are loaded with carb and carbs tend to make you hungry again shortly after eating, plus too many carbs rise your insulin levels which is not good.

Try to stay away from all processed food. They are usually loaded with sugar and ingredients that I can’t even pronounced, so you know they can’t be good for you.

Watch your consumption of alcoholic beverages. All alcohol is full of calories and sugar. Plus the mixers usually are full of sugar. Also alcohol usually makes you hungry.

Try to add more vegetables and salads to your menu. They are full of fiber and will fill you up for a longer time. But don’t fill up on rich sauces and salad dressings.

Incorporate some exercise into your day. If you have not exercised in a while start slow still lifeand build up your strength and stamina. Start walking and you will be surprised how quickly you will get stronger.

Your mind set plays an important role in your weight loss success. If you think you can’t succeed you will be right. If you think that you can succeed you will be right also. You can create a habit in 21 days, whether it’s good or bad. So try to cultivate good behaviors and soon they will be second nature to you.

Success is a slow journey, not a sprint. So be patient with yourself. If you slip and fall just get up and back on track. Just  because you stumbled does not mean you’re a failure. It just means you are human.
