If you are fasting, you may have an inability to safely operate a motor vehicle or any form of machinery.

Your body might not absorb certain medications or could alter different drug interactions.

Long term fasting could damage the immune system and have an adverse effect on the liver and kidneys. Because you will be depriving yourself of food for a period of time you could become malnourished. Make sure to see a health care professional before starting any type of fasting or strict diet.

If you have never tried fasting you will be surprised how quickly you will adapt. The first few days are the hardest. If you really feel hungry have some chicken bouillon or a small piece of fruit.

When you are ready to end your fasting diet, do so slowly, first start with diluted juices and slowly incorporate solid foods a little at a time.

Remember your system is not accustomed to eating heavy amounts of food and it could cause distress to your system.

Also when you do go back to eating normally do not go back to your old way of eating, all the junk food, fast food and poor choices. Eat a healthy diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables and lean meat or fish. Allow yourself a treat occasionally but not every day.

You don’t want to undo everything good you have done for yourself.

  1. Deanna,

I have never tried fasting before. I don’t think I have the willpower to do it. I have been up and down with my weight for a long time. Eating right is the biggest factor for me. When I cut my alcohol intake I saw an incredible drop in weight. When I combined that with eating right and exercising I kept it off.

    Thanks for the good info,

    Ed
