A fast can be a very normal process to help with healing and rebuilding the body from within.

Unfortunately, in today’s society we are conditioned to eat constantly, 4 – 6 meals a day, plus snacks. Our bodies need a rest from the constant barrage of food needing to be digested and processed. We are not meant to eat continually .

Our bodies need a chance to rebuild out cells and heal from within and detox by giving it a rest.

Giving your body a rest from food and drinks (except water) will help insure the natural healing process. Your cells can rebuild and start the natural healing process.

The amount of time that you do a fast is certainly an individual choice, depending on how well your body adjusts.

My first water only fast, I started getting headaches and dizziness the second day. So I had some broth and that helped and I was able to continue the fast for about a week. I have heard of 60 day fasts, but make sure you are supervised by a health care professional.

Always get a doctor’s approval before starting a fast or any other major change in your eating habits.

Individuals that should not fast:

  • Pregnant or nursing women.
  • Eating disorders
  • A medical condition- liver, kidneys or very frail
  • Children
  • After surgery or have a major illness

Fasting is a way for your body to help heal itself from the inside out. Many people have been known to improve different health problems by fasting and giving the body a chance to heal. Diabetes, strokes, high blood pressure, even some forms of cancers have been improved with fasting.

In today’s society, we pop a pill for every ailment, as if that is the answer. We have been conditioned by the medical profession that is the only answer. Unfortunately, many of us fall into that trap thinking that is the easiest and quickest way to better health.what is a fast
